I met Dan in 1995 at Philadelphias `Ortliebs Jazzhaus´, where he was working with Bootsie Barnes and Billy James. We did our first tour in Germany with the help of drummer Duck Scott in `96 and got back together once or twice a year, since.
In the past 14 years, we recorded a `live´ gig and in the studio for BR (bavarian radio station) and MDR, played many, many gigs in Europe and a couple in New York and New Jersey and made four cds: `East Coasting´ (with swiss saxophonist Roman Schwaller), `The Drivin´ Beat´ (with percussionist Josè Cortijo from spain) and - as a trio - `Live - the official bootleg edition´ (our first with Scott Neumann) and `A New View´.
Dan Kostelnik (hammond B3) is from New Jersey. Apart from extensive schooling on the road he studied piano at William Paterson College with Harold Mabern and also with Rufus Reid. In the past he has shared the stage with Art Farmer, Jimmy Heath, James Moody, Eddie Gladden, Jeanie Bryson, Peter Bernstein, Little Jimmy Scott, Al Foster, Bobby Watson, Chet Atkins and many more.
Scott Neumann (drums) is with the group since 2002. While in New York over the past twelve years, he has performed with contemporaries Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Joey Calderrazo and the Maria Schneider Orchestra. He has a fourteen year association with the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, other touring credits include the Anthony Cox Quartett, Brother Jack McDuff and Makoto Ozone. Neumann has recorded with various artists including Eddie Gomez, Kenny Werner, David Liebman and Claudio Roditi.
Apart from his extensive jazz experience, including a wide variety of recordings, Scott was the featured drummer/percussionist with the Broadway production Swing (!) and worked for 42nd Street, City of Angels and Eli´s Coming.
He can be heard on the motion picture soundtracks of David Byrnes´ True Stories, Mr.& Mrs.Bridge and The Girl. TV credits: The Today Show, Lifetime, Nickelodeon, The View, A&E. (we´re happy to have him with us..)
" Well rounded, the relaxed drumming of Scott Neumann, who knows very well how to get the perfect mixture of drive and swinging rhythms." - Mindener Tageblatt – 11. `02

The former student of `Philly´Joe Jones and Bobby Durham began his professionel career at the age of sixteen. He has worked with Jimmy Smith, Wild Bill Davis, Jack McDuff, Eddie `Cleanhead´ Vinson, Junior Cook, Al Grey, Dakota Staton, Hank Crawford, Jimmy McGriff, Charles Earland, Shirley Scott, Don Patterson, Milt Buckner, Richard `Groove´Holmes, Maceo Parker...
"An American debut"
Dan Kostelnik`s organ work has an engaging breadth, running from the blues grit of Jimmy Smith to the more expansive attitude of Newark native Larry Young, everything underpinned by percolating rhythm.
The Newton resident has grabbed a lot of folks with his stuff, playing with guitarist Bob DeVos, saxophonist Connie Lester, backing folks on alternate Tuesdays at the jam at Cecil`s Jazz Club in West Orange, and on and on.
Kostelnik steps out as a co-leader this friday and saturday at Cecil`s in WE THREE, a trio that boasts Brooklyn-based drummer Scott Neumann, and guitarist Michael Arlt, from Wuerzburg, Germany.....
